why I picked this up
I initially picked this book up to be performative about philosophy and because my friend recommended it as the best starting point for reading other philosophical texts that are on my reading list. It was pretty much explained to me that every other text can be seen as a response to Plato.
I’ve never really read any philosophical text that wasn’t religious, so I was really excited to read this book, and so far I have loved the Socratic dialogue. At times, it does feel like it gets bloated, and there are things that I don’t understand, but the footnotes that come with Bloom’s translation come in really clutch to help me.
